VFg   VI suggest we start another thread called
Keg Meetup 2012

We discuss for a year or two
Hopefully OMC will take pity on us and work with one of their bigger distributors to help host.

Kidding aside
The Norcal contingent may be a strong contender for the first ever Kegfest

Technically we could start out small
Say a qurom of 3 or more is a Kegfest. Al participants get a verisitility T shirt.

The second Kegfest will need four or more and so on.

After we go regional
Then national, then the world.

Well distance is an issue for many of us. What about if regional keggers get together to compete at a local BBQ comp? Teaming up will certainly help limiting the costs involved and we could compete as "Team Keg Texas" or South etc... It would really be awesome if OMC wanted to help sponsor us in some way. Just my 2 cents..

Hey, hey, hey...there's an echo in this thread. It started in 2010 for a get together and now it's 2013 with no more chance of it happening than in the past. Logistics seems to be the major problem...besides one I promised I wouldn't talk about. We're so spread out that one member had the idea of more than one get together. Maybe like a South/East region, North/Central and so on. I don't think anyone really wants to drive more than around 8 hours or so.
Anyway, I just thought I'd revive an old dead thread and see it there's an interest anymore.

I'm in!

I think another problem is the planning.  It would be a fair amount of work for someone to take on.

They are closed minded idiots (did I just say that?? YEP!) and they can't see the usefulness of other types of cookers.

Allow me to chime in - we've had this idea on the board for quite a while too.  The initial thought is to hold one at each of our facilities:

Waterloo, ON

Huntington, IN

Dickson, TN

Logistics are a challenge - IN / TN facilities are manufacturing only, but we certainly have the space, just a matter of getting our marketing group on site with "Official Broil King Propaganda" and the like.

Would also want to bring in local dealers and media to see just how amazing the Keg is.

Keggers - which location is closest / best for you?

Personally I'd probably travel to any of them.  IN is the closest.  I've been told I'm not allowed to enter Canada though.   Roll Eyes

Tennessee would be the closest to me...at 9 hours away. Maybe have it when the Natchez Trace is in full color. Or just move the whole thing to New Orleans.

Happy to host at any of our facilities - that poses a travel challenge for the Gulf states, among others.

I'm 100% on board for this, but timing and getting everyone (or as many as we can) in one place is a massive endeavor.

Open to suggestion here.

May want to consider some place that could handle many people.  May need bathrooms, water supply, electric (generators), garbage pickup. etc.  I assume some will want to travel with campers and some may want to stay in hotels.

If were serious about getting together we would need to decide if its spearheaded by an OMC employee or one of us.  It alot to take on.
