Just in from OMC!

Quote
We are doing our best to get product to the market and should have 2011 product in stores by early June.

Until that time, US customers can order the BSK through Ace Hardware, even if the store doesn’t have it in stock, they can easily order it from their warehouse using the ACE Sku# 8268310.

For the Canadian forum members - they can purchase the units through their local Home Hardware store.   Again, if not in stock – the store can order from their warehouse. [quote/]

I don't have an answer on that from OMC.  If/when I get one I'll post it!

Looks the same to me assuming that this is what you will actually get once stock becomes available.

Glad they posted something.  At least anyone that would like to order can.

They are closed minded idiots (did I just say that?? YEP!) and they can't see the usefulness of other types of cookers.

Sears also has them at 680.  They have been offering free delivery and some other discounts.

My BSK arrived at Home Hardware yesterday, right on schedule.

Per materials included, it was manufactured in China, by In Zone, May 2010. It is the brown model, and per packaging, has a 10 year warranty on the Keg body.

Seasoned up the cast iron last night, while managing to obtain and maintain 400F for one hour. +/- 20F. Had the unit up to temp in just a shade over 9 minutes.

I'll be eating my own cooking within the next 32 hours, and am optimistic the meat will be eminently edible.

While money wasn't an obstacle for me, walking down BBQ lane at the hardware store shows the vast majority of BBQ's well under $850. Given Ace Hardware in the U.S.A has them listed at $599.99, and I'm shopping with a CDN dollar @~ $1.05, I think this will be a tough sell into the Canadian market.

Based on current USD/CDN exchange, a fair Canadian price would be ~ $665 - I was going to add a few extra bucks for shipping, but as they're coming from China, and the new owners are based in Ontario, I don't see shipping costing more for either U.S.A or Canada.

Home Hardware link to BSK: http://tiny.cc/513o2 - $849.99
Home Hardware link to BSK Diffuser Kit: http://tiny.cc/819w2 - $39.99

The Ace Hardware outlet has them for $599.  Go to the Ace Hardware site and they are listed at $679, the same as at my local Ace.

Glad to hear, Keggerman!
I ordered mine in early April and just picked it up last Friday at the Ace Hardware ($679) in Niagara Falls, NY.
No issues at the border coming back on Sunday (not exactly lying, just stretched the truth a touch).
Built it on Sunday afternoon and one of the short front handle screws looked like a rivet and had no slots for ANY screwdriver. JuiceMan advised to use a rubber mallet to get the hub caps on!
Will season on Friday and later hopefully, enjoy my first BSK Black Angus NY Strip steak.
I did purchase some Toronto-brewed Steam Whistle Beer that does not a have a twist-off cap so, before the steak goes on, there will be a ceremonial BSK-handle beer opening. Maybe more than that.

However, the outlet wants $189 for shipping (at least to me in Pa) so that makes the $679 price cheaper even after tax.  Think I'm going to order one this weekend.  Just have to convince the wife.

Slydog....Try calling your local Ace Hardware and see if they will order one for you for the $599 with free ship to the store. My local Ace was willing as long as I paid in cash. They had in in a couple of days and I didn't have to pay any shipping.

Is that a special price for you, or can anyone get that price.  I am in Vallejo.

That cost is what the Ace Hardware Store has to pay for the Keg.
So if they sell the Keg for $613 they only make $100 profit.
It's more like a bench mark, cause sometimes they are popping up below cost.

The Ace Outlet was selling them for $599 with free shipping to the store.
(I think)
