I’ve agreed to cook BBQ for a charity event in Smyrna, GA on Sunday 15 May 2011. I’d like some help if any of you Atlanta area keggers are up to it! We’ll be cooking 16 pork butts and 24 slabs of ribs at a minimum. Maybe more, but that was all I was willing to agree to on my own. Setup is on Saturday and we'll be cooking through the night competion style finishing Sunday around lunch. This is what I’m thinking for a time table. Saturday 8 AM: inject 16 8lbs butt roasts Saturday daytime: setup Kegs and cooking area hang out and chill a bit Saturday PM: Rub butt roasts and put on Kegs, cook / tell stories till Sunday AM Sunday 5-7 AM: Prep ribs, pull butts to rest, start ribs chill till noon Sunday noon: Pull ribs, cook hotdogs and burgers as needed till 5PM I could use some extra hands and even a few more kegs if you want to bring yours. I’ll be setting up Saturday 14 May and cooking through the night. Come and hangout with me. Let’s have some fun cooking BBQ and do some good at the same time! I’m a big dog lover and all the profits will be going to three different charities. Here is a link to the event and all the details http://www.dogmadogcare.com/?page_id=1385The event is also on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=183829018320500

Great Job Boat!
Too bad I am not an Atlanta-onian (is that a word?). But Carnovire Junior also has a soccer tournament that weekend.

Kudos Boat for volunteering for such a great event! I share my love of dogs as well and if I didn't live up in this giant freezer they call Canada, I would come lend a hand and try to soak up some grilling tips from an expert! Cheers for doing good in the community

How many people are you cooking for? I'd be tempted to come up and cook jamabalaya. Let me think on this for a day or two. No promises!

That would be great! I think it's going to be a fairly small one day festival type event. Prob 1,000 or a little more attending. Could get begger if they advertise well. Send me a PM if you think you want to do this and I'll get better numbers. Bob, let me talk to the boss. I'll be in touch.
Wow, I wasn't thinking anyone would com from that far away, but sure! Come on down if you can. This is going to be fun to cook with a few follow keggers I will be doing both the butts and ribs comp style. Anyone helping will leave knowing all my tricks

I would love to help and hang out boat but that is our anniversary weekend and we currently have plans to be out of town. If plans change at the last minute I will let you know. Like you I am a dog lover and would love to contribute.

I'm sorry Boat, I opened my mouth before I should have. I wish I had the time and funds to come and help out. I'm committed to do a volunteer cook in north Alabama right after Labor Day and I can only afford so many such trips.

Boat I'd be there if I lived in the general vicinity but I'm about 3,000 miles away and unfortunately the airlines are making air travel ever more expensive with fuel costs now. Good luck, good keggin, good lovin'...

Jim, Grilla, got your PM's! I will send you more info. I'm really happy you guys are willing to pitch in I know allot of you would if you could That's the kind of people we have on this board and I thank you. We could still use a few guys with or without grills to hang out Saturday night and some pork pullin volunteers on Sunday AM if anyone is still interested in hanging out and helping a little. The more hands the easier the work Cajunator you do lots of good stuff and you'll be missed, but I understand completely.
