Boat...

Was thinking we need to have a sub forum just for the throw down initial thread, voting threads, and a sticky with past winners with dish, link to their recipe, etc.

Thoughts?

BBQ is all the same basic idea.  Throw some meat onto the fire, cover, get drunk, pass out, wake up and 14 hours later, eat.  This is not a highly refined art form.

I mentioned yesterday that there should be a sticky for Throwdowns.  I also wanted to see whos ribs were whos but the rib throwdonw thread does not have the names in it.

They are closed minded idiots (did I just say that?? YEP!) and they can't see the usefulness of other types of cookers.

Already started a draft post on the sticky!  I've been thinking the same thing about a sub board. I would really like to make that change, but I have some concerns.

You know this is only our 3rd throwdown and on average we get under 100 votes posted.  I'm a neat freak and think a seperate board would be great, but our cooking board is our most read!  Not sure we would be doing the throwdowns a favor if moved just yet.  Heck the Bretheren only recently moved theirs to a seperate board.

I'm open to it, just give it some thought and let me know,

If we have a sticky with past winners and link backs to the winning dish recipe that's a start.

Don't suppose you have the chicken throw down links still?

I wouldnt move the active ones but the finished ones would be OK right?  They must be buried pretty deep right now and may only get read if searched out?

Here's the winnin' Bird!

Aint relly no recipie on the chicken though...just rinse, dry, rub, put on diffused @ 350* and mop every 20 mins or so with a glaze of cider vinegar, agave nectar and rub.  There is achiote in the rub, hence the nice red color.  It was cooked to 165 at the thickest point of the breast, and I did kick up the heat to 400 for the last 20 min or so to crisp up the skin.  That is all.  no brine, no rest in the frige, nothin. just roasted whole bird.  I do need to make another, it was very good.

Edited to add cooking info!

thanks Skins and everyone for the input!

You guys could save me some work searching by posting your winning recipe and throwdown links to this thread!!!

BTW, I'm moving this thread to the Discussion Board.  Let keep "What's Cooking" for cooking Grin
