Author Topic: What is BKCG coated with?  (Read 3574 times)

Hey all. Thinking of getting one of these grills as an alternative to the BGE grill. Was wondering though does anyone know what this grill is coated with? I know one of the videos says a "baked on finish". But what is it that is baked on? Is it enamel? Porcelain? Is it similar to what the Webers are coated in? Im thinking it must be pretty decent to withstand the Temps the grill is capable of. For those of you who already have one, how is the finish, inside and out, holding up? As a side note, the sealing gasket looks weak and wont hold up to continuous closing of the lid with screws rubbing into it. A glued on one similar to the BGE would hold up better imho.
Thanks for any and all responses.

The outside of the grill is powder-coated, and the inside of the grill is enameled (the same type of finish as the Weber kettle).

The gasket material is very durable, especially at higher temperatures.  The gasket material is very similar to that on a self-cleaning oven and should provide many years of service.

We have only had our BKCG since May, but we cook on it multple times a week (every week) since we bought it!  We do eveything from 800* sear's to all day smokes.  We treat it without mercy and no issuse to date.  It does it all well and we are very happy with our puchase.   Cool
