So I've been doing some joinery at home and I have bags full of cedar shavings from a planer.

Do folks use this for smoking? How do you do so as it it extremely flammable and tends to just burn very very quickly.

HARD wood chips and shavings work well, but you DON'T want to use cedar.  Numerous reasons why if you google it.
