If you have amazon prime they got  this meat thermometer for 8.39 I bought this and got it yesterday didn't try out on meat but I checked it out my temp. in the house was 74 and it registered 74 so I would say it is a good deal for 8.39

How instant is their "instant read" claim?

Seems everybody and their grandmothers are claiming their food thermometers to be "instant read" these days...

I reads pretty fast I would say about 2-3 seconds I used it yesterday on some chicken worked great, I did leave it on to see if it  would shut off and it did shut off in 10 minuets, just incase I forget to shut it off.

Good to know, thanks, because 2 seconds is in Thermoworks thermometer territory, at a significantly lower pricepoint.
