Does anyone know where can I find one of these in the Montreal area?

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00LP7ZPH0/ref=pd_sim_86_13?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0SQZYETQ534C7KGCR2X3

I could always order it from amazon, but figured I would try to find it in a local store first.

If you need one of those gizmos, buy it from Amazon.  IF, IF you were able to find it locally, it would probably be priced 2X or 3X the Amazon price and not worth the effort.

Just my opinion.

Caveman -

Slightly cheaper on Thermoworks website..., however, priced in USD:
http://www.thermoworks.com/TX-1006X-GC

After conversion to CAD,  plus shipping...will cost more than Amazon Canada price.
Otoh, it is an "add-on" item on Amazon.ca, so will require $25 spending at least.

For local availibilty... have you tried Tzanet ? Awesome very, very large, kitchen / restaurant (wholesale/retail) supply store - near the Costco on L'Acadie / Sauve in Montreal.
 On Louvain:

it's exactly the Thermoworks clip I need (I have the Chef Alarm), but ordering just that clip doesn't make sense...and as you mention, Amazon requires a 25$ minimum order.

Haven't thought about Tzanet...will also check Doyon Cuisine on the south shore...

thanks

Put probe through a ball of aluminum foil works great and very low cost.

Or try this, maybe you can get one at Canadian tire.  You can adapt the clip and if yo ever need to fry a turkey you'll be set.

For little more than the one above you will get a quality product that is very easy to set.

Interesting FP.  Looks tempting.

this is a minor concern
Radio Frequency   2.4 Ghz

Same as WiFi, not sure if it will "step over my WiFi". I had a cordless phone that would mess with WiFi once.
Probably uses WiFi.

I think it uses a different Frequency than wifi.  Like the Maverick.

Check with Thermoworks.  They are coming out with an add on shortly to have WIFI and a smartphone app. with their "SMOKE" Thermometer

I saw the WiFi device, that is very cool....

I think Maverick uses Bluetooth.
I looked up what Bluetooth and wi-Fi (8.0.2.11) use. They both co-exist on 2.4.
Here is a read...
