my dog can't hold her licker

Our friend and hero, WWII vet Billy passed this morning at the age of 97.   Sad Sad Sad
His determination was quite the inspiration.
He went peacefully at the Veterans Home in Bay Minette, AL.
I miss cooking BBQ for him and his wife, he enjoyed it so much.
He always got a kick out of seeing himself on the forum and reading the thanks and comments.

Here's a link for those interested in this unique individual. Additional links on the second page.

Sorry to hear this.  Quite a man.

Worth going back through the archives to read the stories about Billy.  They don't make people like this any more.

You gave him happiness in his final years.

Both parted richer in spirit.

Too many of the old folks end up neglected and forgotten.

Sad that another real person has left us, too many that do not understand the sacrifices made to allow them their freedoms. You were a great friend to him and all of us by letting us get to know him. Rest easily old soldier, thank you.

Going to bump this for Memorial Day.  Didn't have the good fortune to meet Billy myself, but he's one of the good ones.  Never a doubt.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks Rich.
We always think of Billy on this special weekend.  Looking back at the posts and seeing him in the photos brings back fond memories of that great man and hero, also brings a few tears.........
