my dog can't hold her licker

« on: July 18, 2014, 08:08:47 PM »

For about the past week the site has been slow to load both on my PC and Kindle.  I can't even log on anymore from my Kindle.
Took me over two minutes to load the site and log on.  All other websites work fine.
Any ideas?

Today when attempting to log on I got an error and was told I needed to wait 20 seconds.  Problem seems to be getting worse.
I think it's an attempt to ban me from the forum.   Angry Angry   Roll Eyes Grin

But it is getting to be such a pain in the butt just to log on or even view the forum without logging on I'm discouraged from viewing when I just want to take a couple of minutes to keep up with what's going on.  Hell, takes two minutes just for the site to load.

Am I the only one with this issue?

Okay, I brought my work laptop home and have the same issue with it logging on to this forum.  At work, no problem.  Only difference is the ISP provider.  Why would this forum be slow to load and log me on?  Once logged on it's not so bad.  Other sites like Amazon are fine.  No problem loading or logging on.  I guess my local phone company doesn't like BKK.  I have DSL 1.5 mps

I had an issue a couple days ago.
If you are curious about this you can compare the routes at home and work.

To find out if it is the routing:

If you have a windows machine at the command prompt do
c:>tracert forum.bigsteelkeg.com

I've got a Mac so the command is different, same as linux
this is the result
checks-mbp-2:~ chkp$ traceroute forum.bigsteelkeg.com
traceroute to forum.bigsteelkeg.com (208.113.155.92), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

Thanks Smokey, I'm not very technical about these things, not sure what it'd mean.  I'm sure the routing is different at work as our server is in Ohio.
Just now when logging on I did get this message:

of course sending a message to webmaster@forum.bigsteelkeg.com resulted in a "message undeliverable, no such recipient" message

Hey Bob,

I got that same error!
First I got an error with TapaTalk, then I tried logging on with my computer.
I figured it was a one time thing.
I don't logon as often as I used to, so I only noticed this once.

That error has nothing to do with routing AFAIK. It has to do with issues on the server side.
We used to have a lot of issues in the past on the server.
I think the server may be crashing or out of resources, we have to take note of the time it happens.
I think the last time they were running backups that were misconfigured and caused the server to crash, don't really remember. The system was so unstable, somebody fired up a new board, many of us were ready to ditch the site.

If this is a recurring issue we need to notify the Sysadmin, it used to be Erin.

Cassie is an old sick girl. She won't be with us much longer. Is Killie still stealing pies?

Smokey, so sorry to hear about Cassie. Saying goodbye to these furry four-legged friends is very hard to do.

Kylie is stealing anything she can get her paws on.  These Aussies are quite the handful.

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble with the forum loading and going from one page to another?

Very slow at times today.

Had to close out and then reenter URL to get it to load.

Weird, everything back to normal here.  Our security alarm went off in the middle of the night Friday night.  Myself, Kylie, and Mr Smith and Mr Wesson did a property sweep.  The phone line had gone dead setting off the alarm, I guess the phone company, (my ISP), must've been working on something.  After that everything loads almost instantaneous again.  Still don't know why only this site would have been affected.
But then again, I think it was last week I noticed a BBQAdmin was logged on, the user name was highlighted in red.  Maybe something was fixed?
