Anyone going to this event? It's on March the 8th and 9th. It also happens to be a state championship.
Takes place at the Paragon Casino. My son and I are going to give it a shot. We're bringing 2 Weber Kettles, Weber "Bullet", The Broil King Keg and any other pit we can round up. Brisket, Chicken half, and pork spareribs. There's also a BBQ sauce, gumbo/soup, and dessert competition.
It's our first competition so our goal is not to scrape the bottom. Hopefully, they'll give us feedback, but I'm not counting on it.

You'll have a good time. We did two comps last year. Our first ever. Enjoy and let us know how you do.

They are closed minded idiots (did I just say that?? YEP!) and they can't see the usefulness of other types of cookers.

Went there last year and in November. Did well and placed in the top ten in each catagory.

Cant make this one though. I got a free hog hunt lined up for my sons B-day.

When you get there cozy up to Brian Lipps and T-Wayne Abshire. Tell them I sent you. They can give you tips but won't tell you secrets.

BUT, If I were you I would coat down your meats with NuNu's seasoning and glaze with Daigles Pecan Garlic sauce. It works well for me. Also brine your bird. The Judges are liking hot and fast chicken nowdays

Mosy of all have fun!

Thanks for the tips, Ron. NuNu's is about 3 miles down the road from me. We had planned to brine the birds. Still working on a killer brisket rub.
