Title: Memorial Day Meat Coma
Post by: RG on May 28, 2018, 03:36:19 PM
Mrs. RG (Stephanie) had a hankerin' for some brisket and figured since the smoke was rollin' she might as well throw a butt on there too. That is sound logic in my mind. She woke up at 5:00am this morning to get the fire rolling. I trimmed the meat last night and she applied her rub (for the butt, the brisket got peppered cow as usual). They chilled in the fridge overnight.

I slept in while she was alternating between tending the fire, backwashing the pool and watching TV in the man..errr...woman cave :P

I cleaned house a little, dabbled on the PC for a bit looking at photos and cleaning memory cards, did some dishes, etc.

Her hard work paid off, take a gander at her days work.

I am sad to see this long weekend end! Back to work tomorrow :(

I hope you all had a great weekend, I know I certainly did!

Thanks PG! I don't cook much these days, she does pretty much all of it. I'll do a rack of ribs here and there on the pellet grill. It was a nice hobby that we still like the benefits of, but neither of us is as into it as we once were. Life takes you on different paths, my interests lie elsewhere these days. We haven't used a keg in 2 years I bet!

That's a beautiful brisket! What did she cook it on?
That's some cow I could make a pig of myself with! Lol.......

Your favorite, the KBQ :P

It makes killer food, still amazes me. We've had it what, 2 years now? Something like that. It's spoiled us. She loves cooking on it, even though it has to be babysat.

I need to get her 5000 sold, nobody wants it though.

Prolly the word's already well out that the 5000 is not the easiest to maintain steady, low temperatures as say a 4000 or a Kamado Joe. Plus no fixit hacks offered from OMC to-date, despite forum members repeatedly asking ... likely doen't help either.
Good luck, one of these days an unsuspecting noob may come along - mostly interested in high-heat cooks and buy your 5000.
